I’ve been training with Hampstead Triathlon Club since 2014, after undertaking my first sprint triathlon and wanting to improve my performance across all three disciplines. Hampstead Triathlon Club is a friendly, supportive and inclusive community for all members and regardless of individual ability we are all equally encouraged to push ourselves further to reach our goals. Dan (Head Coach) and all the other coaches are hugely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and will go above and beyond to share their expertise, tips and support to help improve your performance.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2016, I had to take almost a year out from the club and training. To help with my recovery I set myself a goal to undertake my first 70.3 as soon as I was well enough and I successfully completed Weymouth in September 2018. The club played a huge part in my recovery, both psychologically and physically, giving me a goal to aim for, a community of like-minded people to train with and a reason to keep getting out of bed in the morning and pushing myself.
As my coach, Dan went above and beyond to help me build my fitness for this race. He listened to me, set realistic and achievable goals and provided me with weekly plans and support. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support, motivation and friends I’ve made through the club and can’t wait for 2019 race season.

“I have been doing triathlon for the last year or so and I decided to join Hampstead Triathlon club about 5 months ago. In this time they have helped me go from completing my first triathlon to completing my first half ironman!
There are so many great things about this club and they have really helped me to grow as a triathlete. Every session is well structured and there is always something new to learn.
Dan and the other coaches are absolutely fantastic! Their enthusiasm is so infectious and they give you the motivation you need to really push yourself, even on those days you might not feel like training (we all have them :P). My fellow Hampstead triathletes are probably the friendliest bunch of people I have met and coming from a running background, I am amazed by the real sense of community in the triathlon world. I can’t wait to line up some more races and to compete in some of the team events that the club participates in. More than anything it is nice to know that you have such a great bunch of people supporting you and helping you achieve the goals that you set yourself. I can’t recommend enough coming down and giving a few sessions a try! Just be prepared to become obsessed with all things triathlon!”
